While there are continuous threats, and constant fear-mongering by neocons, the tone against Iran has changed slightly. The threats are still very evident, but the U.S. is temporarily backing off concerning war games in that region. Israel is openly angry that the war rhetoric has temporarily lessened, but I think this is a political tactic by the Obama administration. The massive military exercises planned have been moved from May until later in the year. This makes sense politically, because later in the year will be closer to the presidential election.
What a sad commentary that the discussion of major aggressive war has to include the planning aspects of election politics, but any who doubt this connection are naive.
The risk of war with Iran, as I have mentioned many times, is staggering, and with this being an election year, this administration will be forced to take extreme caution in advancing what could be World War III.
As far as any new “smoking gun” evidence concerning Iran’s nuclear capabilities, those are just more inflamatory lies perpetrated by the same warmongers who helped put this country into unnecessary wars with Iraq and Afghanistan. These neocons have no soul, nor do they have any capability to think or act rationally. This is mainly due to their agenda for perpetual war and world domination.
Hopefully, some of these delays are due to the pressure being applied by sane libertarian minds. Exposing the U.S. government, its military, and its corporate sponsors for what they really are may be having a positive effect. One can only hope!
This situation deserves constant attention by all. The dangers are many, and the consequences could, and probably would be deadly should unwarranted war against Iran go forward.
