A very recent violent event in my home state of Montana has come to my attention, and it is completely sickening. This really has little to do with Montana, because false patriotism is more rampant in this country than anywhere else on earth. The telling nature of this truism should be disturbing to any who seek sanity and a peaceful world.
A 39 year old apparent psychopath, Curt Brockway, grabbed a 13 year old boy by the throat, slammed him to the ground so hard that he fractured his skull, and caused excessive bleeding from his ears, all because he did not remove his hat for the playing of the national anthem. This was in public at a local rodeo. He told the boy to remove his hat in respect for the national anthem, and the boy properly refused. The result was almost deadly.
For those who may want to understand what being a patriot really means, and that will be a very limited few, I will briefly describe that criteria. A patriot is first and forever a protecter of individual liberty, which means that the first enemy of the patriot is the nation state and its government. A patriot fights against any assault on freedom, and therefore must attempt to weaken or eliminate government, as government is a continuous threat to liberty. Worshiping the state, its flag, its military, or its policies is not patriotic, but is the exact opposite. Infringing on the freedom of others by demanding their undying worship to the state is tyrannical, it is not patriotic.
These things are lost to the vast majority of Americans, as they tend to worship government whether local, state, or national, and all its crimes. They applaud those killing innocents for the state, they applaud aggressive war, they applaud any ruler they seek to follow, and they bow down at every opportunity to show praise to the state whether at sporting events, political rallies, or in the government indoctrination centers called ‘public” schools. This is not patriotism, it is a sign of servitude due to ignorance.
Those who reject this nonsense for the sake of exposing the state and its crimes are patriotic, regardless of their reasoning. Almost all of America equates blind obedience and worship of symbols as being patriotic, when in fact, there are only a handful of actual patriotic Americans, and those are the people who continually denounce the American government and its agents of force and control.
Brockway, the lunatic who attacked this 13 year old, should go directly to prison, as he actually violently harmed another, in this case a child, without cause. It is no surprise that this assaulter is a U.S. Army veteran, and also was previously convicted of assault with a weapon in 2010. His attorney, Lance Jasper, in his infinite ignorance, has claimed that this monster was acting on orders from President Trump because he is the commander in chief and does not tolerate any disrespect to flag or country. While Trump’s arrogant stupidity in his false belief concerning “patriotism” is evident, this defense is simply a ploy to exonerate a true criminal.
If any wonder why this country is in the sad shape that it certainly is, just take a hard look around and you will see the truth right before your eyes.
