Senate Bill 1867: Detention of Americans Without Trial

There is a lot of talk today about S.1867: the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012. For purposes here we will be discussing Section’s 1031 and 1032.

Keep in mind that this 680 page piece of legislation is an atrocity at every level, but those major critics are looking at just the two Sections listed above. An article by Paul Joseph Watson explains that this bill would allow the U.S. military to intern Americans without trial. I don’t disagree, but that is already happening, and assassinations of American citizens without charge or trial is also being done on the say so of one man, the president.

Section 1031 and 1o32 are completely contradictory; this I’m sure is by design. Section 1031 does not restrict who can be captured and held without charge or trial, including Americans. Section 1032 however, in paragraph (b) says that:

“(1) United States Citizens- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.”

This is restricted to Section 1032, but not to Section 1031. Section 1031 addresses the use of the “Armed Forces,” while Section 1032 addresses the use of the “military.” Section 1031 does not distinguish between American citizens and foreigners. I believe that Section 1031 gives full authorization to detain anyone, including Americans, and Section 1032 will be used by politicians as cover for this provision. It is confusing to say the least, and as I said earlier, I think this is by design. It is a total contradiction, but why would one expect anything different from government? Section 1031 completely negates Section 1032 in my opinion, and this confusion is very dangerous!

It is helpful to understand that the U.S. government and its military have been, and continue to either assassinate American citizens at will without the benefit of charge or trial, or detain and imprison them also without charge or trial. It has been of course doing the same with foreigners for a long time, but this legislation would make it “legal” in the eyes of those trimmers in politics.

Nothing it seems concerning liberty and freedom is off limits to this very corrupt and evil government, but this Senate bill goes one step further. It should be stopped dead in its tracks! Any continuation of liberty destructing “law” such as this Senate bill puts all of us one step closer to a completely controlled police state, and in that type of tyrannical atmosphere, Martial Law could be the end result!
