The U.S. Senate yesterday voted 99 to 0 to pass the evil Lindsey Graham’s resolution, S.Res.65. This legislation is horrendous, and sets the stage for an Israeli and U.S. aggressive attack against Iran.
This abhorrent resolution is filled with lies and deception, and calls for very brutal sanctions against Iran to not only continue but to escalate. It is important to remember that in the past 300 years Iran has only attacked Russia to take back stolen land. They have not been militarily aggressive against any country for centuries, while the U.S. is currently warring and occupying aggressively countries worldwide, and has been slaughtering innocents almost continuously for over 100 years.
While this is obviously not a formal declaration of war, something that would never be done by the cowards in Congress, it is frightening, and the language is inflammatory almost beyond description.
Daniel McAdams listed the abominable resolved clauses of this resolution in his blog on Lew Rockwell yesterday, but it is the 8th clause that is especially troubling.
(8) urges that, if the Government of Israel is compelled to take military action in legitimate self-defense against Iran’s nuclear weapons program, the United States Government should stand with Israel and provide, in accordance with United States law and the constitutional responsibility of Congress to authorize the use of military force, diplomatic, military, and economic support to the Government of Israel in its defense of its territory, people, and existence.
Lest any not understand this language, it says that if Israel decides for any reason to aggressively attack Iran, that the U.S. government should stand fully behind that attack, and that Congress should authorize complete military force and monetary support for that effort. Full out war in other words.
The danger here is that this language gives Israel a green light to attack Iran, and assurances that the U.S. will provide full economic and military support. Is that the actual reason for this resolution? Is the Senate attempting to authorize an act of war against Iran by Israel? Is this meant as a signal that the U.S. is prepared for unholy and unwarranted war, possibly World War III, and that Israel should be the catalyst?
This is dangerous territory, and an open invitation for more war, war that would surely bring destruction, maiming, and death to many of the nearly 75 million innocent civilians living in Iran. The U.S. of terrorism is alive and well in its quest for more imperial domination!
