Once again, a threatening resolution against one country by others, has been accepted by the very corrupt, and mostly U.S. controlled UN.
This resolution was authored, albeit probably due to U.S. proxy, by Saudi Arabia, and supported by other Arab states, and demanded that Assad transfer all his powers to a “traditional government.” I find this interesting, as the family rulers of Saudi Arabia, and many of the other sponsors of this resolution, are anything but “traditional” governments, and in fact are in many cases totalitarian in nature.
The UN demanded that Syria not use chemical weapons, but it has never demanded that of the United States, a country that has on many occasions used these horrible weapons in completely aggressive wars and occupations. Syria has not done so to date, and also stated that they (chemical weapons) would only be used if they were invaded by an outside force.
Contradictions abound! The UN General Assembly denounced any crackdown on rebel forces by the Syrian government, but those rebels are the ones killing civilians, and are fully supported in that effort by the U.S. and its allies. The UN also stated that acts of brutality in Syria, mostly committed by U.S. sponsored rebels, may constitute “war crimes against humanity.” No comments were forthcoming about the U.S. atrocities and war crimes committed for the past many decades; war crimes that continue daily around the world.
Fortunately, this resolution, as is normal, is not “legally” binding, but could lead nonetheless to actual future sanctions. If so, that would be an act of war against Syria by those complying with any order to sanction Syria.
It seems a day cannot go by without more threats against Syria by outside forces; forces mostly controlled by Obama and U.S. policymakers. Each step leads closer to more war and aggression, and the continued threatening posture can only worsen the situation. I believe this to be the intent of U.S. officials, but this strategy can only end in death and destruction.
