Pentagon Wants Massive Power For Its Cyber-Specialists

The Pentagon has proposed that military “cyber-specialists” be allowed to take action outside its computer networks. This proposal is pending, but it is this continuous drive by the military industrial complex to take control of Internet communications that is disturbing.

If approved by the secretary of defense, something “officials” have said is within his authority, a precedent would be set. That precedent would result in tyranny!

This would be done under the guise of defending the nation from cyber attack, or national security; the catch all phrase of totalitarianism. In reality, it would be meant to give the military ominous power over our ability to communicate, to report, and to deliver the truth to any who might choose to listen. It could easily turn into a total censorship of information.

The Department of Defense is seeking to have the ability to control computer systems worldwide, including private computer systems domestically. This is a travesty, and one that could easily come to fruition. Of course, the Pentagon says that it would only use this power in “extreme emergencies,” but that could mean almost anything. This cannot be allowed!

This is simply an attempt to “legalize” the illegal by increasing the government’s power over all. If allowed to go forward, it would give by fiat the ability to government to control the entirety of all private computer systems. This is more dangerous to liberty and privacy than most can imagine. It could literally lead to our total loss of speech as we know it.

This planned invasion, one that has been a constant threat since at least 9/11, has to be exposed and stopped in its tracks. Anything less should not be acceptable to any who cherish any modicum of freedom!
