In a report released yesterday from the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC), it was indicated that a nuclear Iran would cause a doubling of oil prices. This report is part of the BPC’s Foreign Policy Project (FPP), and is flawed in its entirety. It is obviously politically motivated. There are no indications in this report as to who or what entity commissioned it. That is vital information if one is understand the reasoning for the Policy’s conclusions.
The BPC is made up mostly of former high level politicians, ex-military brass, mainstream economists and bankers, and so-called energy experts, at least concerning this particular report. In addition, it is full of warmongering types. All that is necessary to understand the agenda of the BPC is to look at its founders and co-chairs. The founders include Howard Baker, Tom Daschle, Bob Dole, and George Mitchell. The co-chairs are Charles “Chuck” Robb, and General (ret) Charles F. Wald. This is a virtual who’s who of corrupt former politicians, warmongers, and power brokers. The Task Force members are also of the same ilk.
This report is extremely biased, is incomplete, avoids the real causes for the turmoil and resulting economic stress in the Middle East, and completely excludes the most important factor in this argument; which is the extreme risk caused by U.S. intervention and imperialistic policies in that entire region. The flaws become evident by looking at the 5 “Scenarios and Consequences” section of the report. They are:
Scenario # 1: Domestic Instability in Saudi Arabia
Scenario # 2: Saudi Facilities Destroyed
Scenario # 3: Sanctions Lapse
Scenario # 4: Iran-Saudi Nuclear Exchange
Scenario #5: Iran-Israel Exchange
As any can see, there is not even a mention of the United States, of the U.S. military, of multiple aggressive wars, of U.S. hegemony, or the economic chaos and disruption in oil delivery due to brutal sanctions. This report by the BPC is attempting to place any and all blame for higher oil and gas prices in the future on Iran. This is more than telling of a report that was strictly done in order to advance a particular agenda. That agenda’s goal is first to instill fear, and then to lay the groundwork for more aggressive war and occupation.
Those who drafted this report have placed themselves in such a position as to be partially responsible and certainly complicit in any immoral and aggressive action by the U.S. government and its military. This is due to the fact that they are assisting the government in its efforts to affect its agenda in the Middle East. That agenda is one of advancing continuous war and mayhem in most of that region, with the main focus, at least currently, to destroy an innocent Iran. That destruction could lead to the U.S. corporate state taking control of Iranian oil. The oil in the Caspian Sea basin has been valued by some at over 13 trillion dollars. Is it any wonder that the criminal government and corporate state want to get their hands in that pot?
I hope to expand on this issue very soon, as this government’s agenda is criminal. All that is happening in the lead up to a war with Iran has been telegraphed by most every policy report, mainstream media report, and government action. This is by design, and that is because the American masses must consent, even if it is implied, to the atrocious actions perpetrated in their name by the U.S. government, its murderous military, and their war benefiting corporate sponsors. Without that consent, the government would be handcuffed, but the current widespread apathy that is now present among most Americans assures that consent.
This is not only pathetic; it is immoral!
