‘Libertarians Are the New Communists?’

Nick Hanauer and Eric Liu, phony crony capitalists, wrote an article today for the incredulous Bloomberg titled “Libertarians Are the New Communists.”

It should be unnecessary to comment on such an asinine piece of propaganda that is obviously agenda driven, but given the complete lack of understanding in this country concerning the real meaning of freedom and liberty, I thought I would make a few comments.

I would call these authors uninformed, but in reality I believe that they are simply very fearful of the power of the individual. This is due to the fact that critical thought and anti-government liberty loving ideology threatens the very system that they have used to enrich themselves with money and power.

They claim in this self serving and scurrilous article that libertarianism and communism are mirror images. They say this not because the truth is that they are opposite, but because they claim that both ideologies would lead to the “same kinds of catastrophe.” Their conclusions are based not on fact but on their own biased opinions and their unwavering belief in the State.

Their definition of radical libertarianism is partially correct, but their interpretation of that incomplete definition is totally flawed.

“By radical libertarianism, we mean the ideology that holds that individual liberty trumps all other values.”

Libertarianism is certainly based on the premise that the individual is sovereign. Real freedom can never exist if the individual is subservient to the state or to the collective, so individual liberty certainly is a major aspect of libertarianism. But to be a libertarian, one has to respect fully that every individual is sovereign, and that no one individual can aggress against another. Because of this belief, voluntaryism and cooperation are the natural results of individual liberty.

To be libertarian without compromise means to be anti-state, anti-war and pro-free markets. It means that the non-aggression principle must be followed at all times. When this attitude is present, freedom flourishes and prosperity grows.

The ignorance, or more likely, the purposeful misleading information spewed by these writers becomes painfully obvious when they use as examples of radical libertarians the Koch brothers and Texas Senator Ted Cruz. These trimmers would not even recognize a real libertarian, and in fact are statists to the core.

Hanauer and Liu completely failed in their attempt to equate libertarianism with communism, but then their intent was hostile, and never based on fact or truth. The bottom line is that when people begin to wake up and see the corrupt and evil nature of the State, statist benefactors and those in powerful positions like these authors, begin to sweat due to their fear of a free minded citizenry.

When large numbers of people begin to learn the truth and begin to be educated in the ways of the State, then the powerful become exposed for what they truly are … Parasites living off the backs of the masses. In essence, Hanauer and Liu would fit into the system of communism perfectly, because they desire to sit at the top with extorted privileges, just as the elite in that system seek. Libertarians on the other hand believe only in the power of individual liberty, an ideology that embraces cooperation, voluntary behavior, non-aggression, self responsibility and freedom.

“The great non sequitur committed by defenders of the State, including classical Aristotelian and Thomist philosophers, is to leap from the necessity of society to the necessity of the State.” ~Murray Rothbard
