Julian Assange Granted Asylum By Ecuador

In the midst of the assault on those who tell the truth by the U.S. government, Julian Assange has been temporarily rescued by the Ecuadorian embassy in London. Instead of championing this courageous effort, U.S. and British officials are threatening what would be an act of war against Ecuador for coming to the aid of a persecuted truth teller.

What is Assange’s crime? Why is he so sought after by the murderers and torturers in the U.S.? He reported the truth about the criminal activity of the political and corporate elites around the world, nothing more. Instead of rightfully being applauded, he has been harassed and charged with fake crimes. All this, so the U.S. could gain custody of this brave man, with the intent to torture or kill him for his willingness to tell the truth.

As Julian Assange said in this statement:

“It was not Britain or my home country, Australia, that stood up to protect me from persecution, but a courageous, independent Latin American nation,” said Mr Assange, who watched the announcement with embassy staff in a live link to a press conference in Quito.

“While today is a historic victory, our struggles have just begun. The unprecedented US investigation against Wikileaks must be stopped.

“While today much of the focus will be on the decision of the Ecuadorean government, it is just as important that we remember Bradley Manning has been detained without trial for over 800 days,” he said, referring to the former US soldier accused of leaking government material to Wikileaks.

The desire of the U.S. government is to do the same thing to Julian Assange as it has and is doing to Bradley Manning. Through indefinite detention without any due process, those in positions of power in the U.S. want to destroy him by any means necessary. By doing so, they accomplish multiple goals. This tactic would accomplish the silence of Assange, just as it has in the case of another truth telling hero, Bradley Manning. In addition, this kind of treatment would be widely publicized by the politicians and their cohorts in the mainstream media, which would serve as a warning to any others who might choose to also tell the truth. In other words, his detention, torture, or death would be used as a tool to strike fear in the hearts of those willing to come forward to expose corruption in the future.

This is the way of authoritarians and dictators; it is not the way of any free society. This is the way of the U.S. government and its complicit minions in arms. This is the way of a totalitarian state!

Julian Assange and Bradley Manning, as well as all others willing to risk all to expose the truth, should be freed and lauded as heroes. Those who would incarcerate and torture these men for telling the truth should be the ones imprisoned!
