Gun Bans Continues

By using a backdoor method, California has taken another step to ban gun ownership.

The Attorney General of that state, Kamala Harris, has certified a law that requires all new semiautomatic handguns to have technology installed that will allow every bullet casing to have identifying information stamped on it.

“The “microstamping” act requires every new handgun produced or brought into the state of California to have a special firing pin that will stamp a serial number onto the primer of a round.”

While this does not ban weapons directly, it effectively serves the same purpose. All gun manufacturers would in order to comply have to change their production lines entirely, and that would be an expensive undertaking. Therefore, California’s new semiautomatic handgun inventory could be non-existent in the near future.

California usually leads the nation in implementing very restrictive legislation, but normally, other states jump on board soon after. California is currently the only state that is requiring this new technology, but if other states follow suit, gun makers at some point might be forced into paying for the retrofitting of their production lines. That would increase the cost of buying a gun, and would serve as yet another impediment for consumers of firearms. So this legislation, legislation first introduced by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007, works as a double edged sword for gun control.

This legislation is meant for but one reason, and that reason is to take guns out of the hands of honest citizens. It will not have any effect whatsoever on criminal use, including the criminal police, but will only harm those honest residents of California who desire to own a weapon for defensive purposes.

The attempt by government to ban guns will not cease, although I believe that disarming the American citizenry entirely will in the end be too difficult a task for this corrupt but inept government. The Senate, through deals I’m sure, failed recently to pass gun control legislation, but the back door will always be open for those anti-gun politicians.

Watch your back!
