On Saturday this past weekend, guards at Guantanamo prison in Cuba fired “non-lethal” rounds at prisoners. The stated reason for these rounds being fired at inmates was “to quell prisoner unrest Saturday as they relocated inmates into individual cells,” U.S. military officials said.
In case any were concerned, and I am not, there were no serious injuries to the guards.
The prison officials said they very “concerned” about the “health and security” of the prisoners being held there. That must be the reason that they are willing to hold for the rest of their lives all innocent prisoners, and shoot at them with rubber bullets each and every time they don’t comply fully and submit to any and all orders.
According to those officials at the prison, all communal living “privileges” have to be suspended because the guards cannot completely observe every single move, can’t properly surveil with cameras, and can’t search the prisoners and all their possessions at will, and without dissent. This kind of control has in the past been called slavery.
They are being rounded up so that they can be put into individual cells, a manner of isolation. Isolation is in and of itself a type of torture. Most of those being held at Guantanamo Bay Prison have been there for over 10 years; or since the fraudulent war on terror began. They are so distraught, that most are on hunger strikes; wishing to die rather than be held for life in a God forsaken U.S. prison and torture center.
But they are hardened terrorists and criminals you say? Well, that is the rub. Most are not terrorists or criminals, and in fact, it is more than likely that none are.
There are now 166 prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, and 86 of them have been completely cleared for release; in other words, they are known to be innocent of any crimes. But none of those 86 have been released. None of the 166 have been charged with any crimes, but regardless of that fact they are still held indefinitely and without mercy. It is my guess that the remaining 80 are completely innocent as well, but none of those being held today have been released, and probably never will be allowed to leave the living hell at Guantanamo. Instead they will most likely die a horrendous death in caged captivity!
This is what passes for justice today in America, but in reality, this death camp is akin to what happened in Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia in the past! This is what the United States has become. Those who support or allow this travesty to continue, whether voluntary or by complicit inaction, are partially responsible for inhuman acts of terror! It is important to remember that if it can happen to some, it can happen to all!
As Daniel McAdams said recently:
“Imagine being kept alive by your jailers and torturers with the knowledge that you will never be freed, only kept alive to suffer longer for crimes you did not commit — and which even your jailers and their overlords admit you did not commit.”
Imagine!
