An RT headline today read: “Iran ‘definitely’ closing Strait of Hormuz over EU oil embargo.” This was in response to the EU caving to U.S. pressure to apply even harsher sanctions against Iran. This certainly could be a blow to the EU, but considering the amount of money printed out of thin air by the Federal Reserve to bail out Europe, it is no wonder that the EU is cooperating.
This is a dangerous game, and these sanctions are acts of war, aggressive war, by the U.S. and its partners in crime.
“The pressure of sanctions is designed to try and make sure that Iran takes seriously our request to come to the table,” EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said. This statement in my opinion is patently false, and a lie, as the EU has only capitulated in order to appease the U.S. imperial war machine. Europe has nothing to gain by such a measure. Should Iran not come to the table, and there is no reason it should, and with Washington’s decision to deploy a second carrier strike group in the Gulf, the EU’s attempt to pressure Iran economically could greatly increase the likelihood of all-out war in the region.
With Obama’s so-called removal of troops from Iraq, many troops were then dispatched to Kuwait. There has been a massive buildup of troops in that region, this for no other reason than to strengthen the U.S. position in the Middle East. Actually, most of this buildup is to prepare for a forced war with Iran over oil, and to bolster U.S. imperial desires.
Over 20% of the world’s oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz, so any disruption could be very detrimental concerning oil prices. Of course Wall Street, the oil barons and their companies would greatly profit, but the rest of us would suffer. Energy prices could escalate to levels not seen in the past, and should that happen, many countries would be unable to cope, while many others would see huge slowdowns in production and delivery of goods. This kind of scenario could cause panic and civil unrest around the world.
There is always the possibility that Iran will come back to the table to talk more, but there are a couple of problems with this approach. First, it is unlikely that Iran is enriching uranium for any other reason than for domestic energy production. Second, Iran is surrounded by aggressive enemies who are threatening daily to attack, and these enemies are armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons. So why should Iran not protect itself by also amassing weapons?
This situation has no upside as far as I can tell. Even if Iran officials stated that they would not build nukes, something they have already done and proven, why would the U.S. and Israel cease their aggression? This situation is much bigger than is being portrayed by the politicians and the media. As usual, the real reasons for this aggression are not being discussed, and given the bought and paid for mainstream media that now exists, the truth will remain hidden from the ignorant masses!
God help us if World War III breaks out due to these inhumane and insane sanctions; sanctions that are blatant acts of war that are meant for nothing other than instigating another war of aggression!
