In Los Angeles, police department personnel (LAPD) have set up and are pioneering a high-tech crime-fighting ‘war room‘ so that they can watch over everyone in the city. This is a very sophisticated surveillance operation that ignores any and all individual privacy rights and 4th Amendment protections.
As with other idiotic police quotes, police chief Charlie Beck says: “We are targets on our own soil.” The emphasis, as is common this day and age, is first for the protection of the police, the same police whose first obligation should not be themselves, but the people in the community.
This has become a “state-of-the-art real-time critical response center” or RACR. It is located in the center of Los Angeles, and is responsible for numerous cases of police power abuse.
This new department runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Police monitor “live feeds of traffic cameras, counter-terrorism information, and real-time crime-mapping, with cutting edge software.” This system is used in all kinds of situations, from dignitary visits from the “Royals” and President Obama, to civil demonstrations, and to Occupy protests.
Actually, what this amounts to is simply more police state tracking of the entire population. It is a system that is structured more for civil unrest, state support, and harassment than it is for fighting any so-called crime.
If fighting crime and corruption were the real stated goals of this new rights-destroying technology, then the police would be policing themselves and those who run the city, instead of monitoring innocent citizens. They would not be illegally surveilling the entire residential population of Los Angeles, with the intent of stopping any civil disobedience that is contrary to the state’s position, if true crime-fighting were desired.
This is just one more example of a building police state intent on full and total control of all the rest of us!
