The drumbeat for war with Iran continues unabated with the Obama Secretary of State appointment of John Kerry. He is continuing the lies perpetrated by his predecessor Hillary Clinton, and is attempting to turn untruth into fact.
In this ABC news story this morning, Kerry made the statement that Iran was moving closer to obtaining a nuclear weapon. He said:
“Lines have been drawn before and they’ve been passed,” Kerry said. “That’s why the president has been so definitive this time. This is a very challenging moment with great risks and stakes for everybody because the region will be far less stable and far more threatened if Iran were to have a nuclear weapon.”
The problem with this statement is that it is the same type of rhetoric that has been spewed by political warmongers for many, many years. It has never proven to be true, much like the false assertion by the Bush administration that Iraq had “weapons of mass destruction.” That was a prelude to aggressive war against Iraq, and that seems to be the agenda now of the U.S. concerning Iran.
A big lie in Kerry’s statement is that “the region will be far less stable and far more threatened if Iran were to have a nuclear weapon.” The exact opposite is the case. If Iran had a nuclear weapon, the likelihood of war would be much less possible. Iran has not attacked any country in almost 200 years, so why would that happen now? Iran is threatened virtually every day by the U.S., Israel, and their allies, but has not attacked any aggressor country. If they had nukes, the aggression by the U.S. and Israel would naturally subside, due to a risk of horrible retaliation should Iran be attacked for no reason.
I’m not advocating nuclear weapons mind you, but in this case those weapons would serve as a deterrent to war, not the other way around. The U.S. government knows this, but does not want the American citizenry to understand the truth. In order to continue to prosecute unending war for power and profit, the people must be frightened of a false enemy, and using the threat that if Iran has a nuclear weapon it will use it against innocents, is just what the U.S. government wants to promote. Kerry is simply a mouthpiece for more war and destruction, regardless of the cost to human life and property.
After Kerry finished his promotion for war against an innocent Iran, he immediately said that the situation in Syria was not acceptable, claiming that the Syrian government under Assad was using scud missiles to kill civilians. He said “America” must do more. By more, he meant that the U.S. should give more money to the terrorists in Syria who have been hired by the U.S. to kill and maim civilians so that it can be blamed on Assad. That lie is in the interest of those politicians and corporate heads wanting war against Syria and Iran.
Kerry will be a clone of Clinton, and will do exactly as he is told to do when it comes to lying about the threat of the Syrian and Iranian government’s being a direct threat to the U.S. That has never been the case, and the only real terrorist aggressor in that region is the United States government, its murderous military, and the covert government operatives both federal and private.
War with Iran will cause the situation in the Middle East to spiral out of control. It could lead to a world war, and even if it remained isolated only in that region, and I don’t think that possible, the carnage facing innocents would be greatly expanded, and devastation to world economic markets would cause massive panic.
The only winners in war are the politicians, the war profiting corporations and banks, and the military. The rest of society faces the possibility of losing all, including our most precious freedom and liberty, and we have very little left! Standing against tyranny at home is a great thing, but not standing against tyranny overseas can only guarantee tyranny at home.
