The U.S. government is paying ‘blood money’ to relatives of the Afghan massacre victims. According to a Washington Post article, U.S. military officials paid $50,000 for each of the villagers killed in the recent slaughter in southern Afghanistan.
Apparently, the payment of “blood money” is common, and is a way to to supposedly settle disputes. The money is meant to “defuse” the anger amongst those whose family members were murdered. My opinion is that is is done more to keep them quiet, and to keep them from pursuing justice or revenge.
A U.S. official, who remains anonymous, said: “The amount reflects the devastating nature of the incident.” This official is wise to remain anonymous after making such a deplorable statement as the one above. He or she obviously has no conscience, and has no understanding of the value of human life. I wonder what price this official would demand for the slaughter of his own family?
Does this mean that every life taken by aggressive U.S. military action is worth $50,000, or just the ones that cause problems for the military due to the obvious heinous nature of the murders? When innocent people living in cities and villages are killed, or wedding parties are blown up by U.S. missiles fired by drones, do their family members also get $50,000? I think not!
Lt. Col. Jimmie Cummings said: “Settlement claims are, in most cases, a sensitive subject for those who have suffered losses, and usually the terms remain confidential.”
Just imagine, the terms of these payments are to remain confidential. There is a reason its called “blood money,” and it has only to do with hiding the truth.
The U.S. government and its military are true examples of secrecy, dishonesty, and corruption. They are responsible for prosecuting wars, handing out death and destruction, and committing acts of evil that no single human could even imagine. So long as they can buy their way out, this behavior will continue in earnest, and none on this earth will be safe from the wrath of these aggressors!
