Every day it seems that more and more dangerous invasions of privacy take place, and at virtually every level of government from the local and state police, sheriff’s departments and of course the federal government. Now, there is another story of what I will refer to as blanket surveillance of non-suspecting innocents in South Carolina.
This invasion is happening in Richland County, South Carolina and is called a “Tower Dump.” Basically, the police obtain a warrant to search not for calls or records for a particular individual, but to collect all call, text and data transmissions from a cell tower provider for any “specific” time frame. What this means is that everyone calling, texting or receiving data from the tower in question is having their private information captured by police, hence the name “Tower Dump.”
This is the gathering by police with one blanket warrant all the private conversations and all other data of thousands of individuals who are in no way suspected of any crime. For those who still cling to the ineffective Constitution, this is in every way a blatant violation of the 4th Amendment. Obviously the state gendarmes do not respect any of our rights, and in fact openly regard those rights as irrelavant.
In addition to the police in South Carolina illegally collecting massive amounts of the private information of innocent citizens, they also under that state’s retention laws, so long as any conviction is forthcoming, keep all the data collected on all cell users for as long as seven years. That gives the police the ability to spy and database as much personal and private information as they desire.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department claims that all those innocent citizens who have their data captured “have nothing to fear.” Their claim is that once anyone makes a call or sends a text, they have relinquished their rights. That is nonsense and is certainly tyranny by the state. From an Infowars article by Mikael Thalen:
“Somebody’s innocent phone tower data, we don’t need that, we don’t want it, we don’t care for it,” Sheriff Leon Lott said. “We’re not infringing on their rights. When they use that telephone they understand that that information is going to go to a tower.”
That should put everyone’s mind at ease since all of you have the word of a deceiving criminal sheriff in South Carolina.
This is also being done in other states, and similar blanket surveillance and data capture is being done by the NSA and the Department of Homeland Security. The arrogance and pure dishonesty displayed by these agents of the state is troubling to say the least, and sinister in intent. Enough is enough, and its time to completely dismantle this cancerous police state!
