Well, the newest revelation in the mainstream news is that the U.S. Justice Department tapped 20 Associated Press (AP) phone lines and secretly obtained two months of telephone records of reporters. How ghastly!
What is not being talked about here is that the government already controls most everything that is reported by the entire mainstream media. They are given talking points, and then blast them over the airwaves almost verbatim on a daily basis. The government line and outright lies are reported without question, and the truth suffers. So why all the uproar over this phone record confiscation?
Is it because the press is sacred, and vigilant in its duty to report accurately and truthfully? Is it because mainstream “journalism” today in America is so sacrosanct and pure, and is the protector of accurate reporting and honest investigative coverage of events? Is it because the media constantly scrutinizes and checks government propaganda? Of course it does none of these things, and is in most cases as corrupt as the government itself in its reporting.
The federal government is spying on all of us constantly and continuously without any benefit of cause or warrant. It is capturing every email and databasing and storing those private communications. It is capturing phone conversations and records of millions upon millions of private conversations on a daily basis. It is monitoring the social networks to capture personal data every single day. It is setting up illegal roadblocks and check centers to do searches around the country without ever obtaining a legal warrant. It is also monitoring computer use of virtually everyone in this country. Government drones are being used nationwide, with tens of thousands more to be active in the next few years to illegally surveil American citizens. All private financial transactions of American citizens are monitored, captured, and databased.
All this and much, much more unwarranted government surveillance is happening daily, but 20 AP phone lines being monitored by the Justice Department has taken over the national news, and is considered a heinous attack on privacy. It is the same media that is now complaining about this privacy invasion that commends the illegal spying by government on its citizens under the false assumption of protecting us from the “terrorists.” This is hypocrisy exemplified!
The most prolific terrorist we have to fear in this country is the same U.S. government that is now spying on these few AP reporters. Funny how these same reporters never seemed to mind the government’s privacy invasions of the rest of us! Maybe this is just a turnabout of fair play?
