A Nuclear Iran? Netanyahu Calls For A Clear Red LIne

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is once again making threatening statements based upon false propaganda. His latest revelation:

(Reuters) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday the only way to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons was by setting “a clear red line” to stop its atomic program. “At this late hour, there is only one way to peacefully prevent Iran from getting atomic bombs and that’s by placing a clear red line on Iran’s nuclear weapons program,” Netanyahu said in a speech at the U.N. General Assembly. “Red lines don’t lead to war; red lines prevent war.”

After seeing this new threat by Netanyahu this morning, I thought a little history lesson in order.

Netanyahu has been lying about Iran’s capability or desire to build nuclear weapons for over 20 years. He has made false claims on multiple occasions, in an attempt to stoke up the war drums against Iran. Keep in mind that Iran has not aggressively attacked a single country on earth in over 200 years, and has not built a nuclear weapon.

In 1992, Netanyahu said that Iran would have nuclear weapons in 3 to 5 years. In 1995, officials of Israel said Iran would be nuclear armed by 2000. Donald Rumsfeld stated that Iran would have the capability to strike the U.S. mainland with nuclear warheads by 2003. And now, Netanyahu says that Iran’s nuclear arms will exist within one year; this even though no intelligence service in the U.S. has any evidence to support that claim. Not even the very biased U.N. nuclear inspectors believe Iran has any nuclear weapon capability. (Thanks to Eric Margolis for this information)

As I have stated in the past, I wish there were no nuclear weapons capabilities in the world today, but if any country on this planet has a reason to arm themselves with these weapons, it is Iran. It is threatened by the U.S. Israel, and their allies around the world on a constant basis. Both the U.S. and Israel are heavily armed with nuclear weapons, as are some allies, and they have threatened to use these against Iran, but Iran has never produced such a weapon. Who are the real aggressors and who is the unwarranted target? The answer to this question should be obvious.
