1 Killed and 19 Injured At Gasa/Israel Border

The ceasefire between Israel and Palestine just took effect, but violence at the border is already evident.

According to the Israeli Defense Forces, (IDF) about 300 Palestinians were rioting close to the border fence between Gaza and Israel. When those Palestinian protesters refused to leave the area, Israeli forces began shooting the legs of those across the fence. One Palestinian was killed, and 19 more were injured during this confrontation. There were also 4 Palestinians injured yesterday.

This incident violated the truce according to a Hamas spokesman, but whether it did or not is not the real issue here.

The Palestinians in Gaza live under Israeli rule, and live fully under a police state occupation. The IDF patrols the streets, entering and quartering inside the homes of Palestinians. The laws for the benefit of Israelis are totally different than the laws for the persecuted Palestinians. They (Palestinians in Gaza) are captives in their own country, and this of course will not serve in any manner to help with any truce or so-called peaceful solution. It is simply wrong.

The best scenario would be one in which peaceful negotiations could take place, and all those people in that area could somehow live together in a peaceful manner. This has never happened, and it is not in the political interest of Netanyahu to allow such a sane plan to go forward.

The turmoil there has been going on for a long time, but it continues to escalate out of control, and at some point in the future, another heinous war will be the result. What that could lead to is not conducive to any peace in the region, and in fact could lead to additional war, and more killing. With any additional U.S. involvement, the war and killing could spread throughout that region, and affect the entire world.

This carnage and abuse of human rights must end, if any sanity and peace is ever to return to the Middle East!
